Taxi
They are everywhere and they will follow you to try to get you in their taxi. They are
not dangerous, they just have a lot of competition. I would suggest to politely decline
them if you don’t need the service. That said, don't let them give you a fixed price for
the travel. Always ask them to use the meter. That way you won’t get over charge. If
they realy realy don’t want to use the meter, make sure to negotiate the price.
Normally, taxis that have a green light “on” are using the meter (I still don’t know the
gemmik around that but still). Most of the time you will have to pay with cash even
though some have credit card, don’t count on it.
Grab
That’s an application similar to Uber but for Asia. It works incredibly well and it’s
very often cheaper than a taxi. It’s important to keep in mind, that sometime Grab
drivers are not allowed in specific area that are reserved to taxi. If that’s the case,
just walk a bit further and it will be fine (we had that problem in indonesia around
airport and train station). While using grab application, you can pay with credit card so
you don’t need cash.
There's also a Grab food application (you can have more
information about grab food here).
Tuk Tuk
A tuk tuk is mix between a moto and a horse carriage. The can be harassing, but it’s a
really nice way to get around the city to do sightseeing, especially at night. It
normally cost more than a taxi and remember you can only pay with cash.
