Two days in Jakarta

I woke up staring at a lizard on the wall and the first thing I did was searching for another hotel. With light and sleep an hotel that already seemed bad only looked worse. So we changed hotel for one that was cleaner and closer to a mall, because we were not going in another town without internet connection. We were expecting that the search for a SIM card to be relatively easy but like a lot of assumption we had in Indonesia, we were plain wrong. It took us 5 stores to finally find a SIM card that they were able to sell us (without a plan or a phone…) and that also worked outside of Jakarta. Yeah that was a thing some SIM card would only work in specific town. (If you want more information about Sim card in Indonesia click here)

Other small changes we noticed in Jakarta are the plugs…. the walls outlets were not the same as in thailand or Singapore. Therefore we couldn’t charge on phones… So we also went in the search of an adaptor and it was pretty easy to find so no worry if you don’t have one before leaving. (Here’s more information about the essentials in our bags)

Our take from jakarta was so busy. We thought that we knew what a busy town was after staying in Bangkok, but Jakarta was another level of busy. There was so many people everywhere and a lot of traffic, but that’s what you can expect from the capital of Indonesia.

Two nights in Jakarta was enough for us, so we booked a train to go to Yogyakarta for as soon as we could. Unfortunately for us since we didn’t book in advance (Du to well to ferry...) there was only luxury seat available. To be fair, they were only 50$ each for a 9 hours train ride and included snack and lunches. So not that bad! And for a luxury train ride, it was luxury! (Here’s more information about train ride to Yogyakarta)

The train ride was really nice, the luxury seat were like huge lazy boy with a T.V and plugs. We loved traveling through train and it was an amazing way of visiting the countryside of indonesia comfortably. We were able to see many rice fields and people working. We pass through countless amount of small villages. But the most important thing about this train ride was that it was where I decided to start writing to you. We just went through a rough couple of days and thought that maybe the information we gathered during that time could be useful to someone else. With that Idea in mind we arrived in Yogyakarta!
