A well balanced trip
Since we wanted to be able to say we “Visited all of Phuket” we decided to do
a full 4h tours around the island on our bike. (our butts are still mads at us..)
But it was worth it. We ended up on an remote road by the sea that was just
zigzagging throught the mountain (north-east of the island). Trees were so
heavy and full, covering the sky over and around the road that it gave us the
feeling of racing against a falling forest. Once we arrived by the sea, we got a
beautiful view of the bay with lots fishing boat, like all of those picture of Asia
that you see but never seem to find. The part we visited was less touristy, Yes
there’s parts of Phuket that don’t have a lot of tourist! (Side note: The north east
side of the island is more muslim, so if you wear a crop top like I did, you may
feel
a bit awkward and naked). Apart from that, the trip around the island was incredible
and I made a new friend the giant teddy bear. (My real bear didn’t let me bring
it home)
After so much biking, it was time to lay on the beach and do nothing for a while. So
we went to
Nai harn beach wich after our tour seem to be the most beautiful
of them all. We spend hours there just reading and swimming. If you go swimming
there be aware that you are going to have an incredible amount of sand in your
swimsuit! There’s a lot of wave wich if really fun for swimming and surfing but at
the end of the day I ended up with a full sandcastle with tower and rambarde, and
that was just the swimsuit, my hair had is own planet of sand… I think my bikini
still has sand in it from thailand. Okay, now i am done complaining about the sand,
seriously we loved it so much that we decided to stay for longer and extended our
stay at the hotel we where at. (It was cheap and had a pool… to rinse all that sand)
(Here’s some tips to extend your stay in
an hotel)
On the island of Phuket, there’s a
big bouddha on the top of one of the
mountains. It’s pretty impressive partly because of the location that gives you an
amazing view of the island and sea, but also because of the boudha itself. He was
made
with thousland of tiny tile (45 meters hight of tiny tiles).
It’s also a free-charity visit (don’t get scam by people triying to sell you tiket…
tiny warning you need to be covered to visit the bouddha since it’s a temple). The
road to get there is worth the trip by itself, there a lot of point of view on the
way giving you different angle to view the bay and the island.
On the island of Phuket one of the fun thing we did, was just to wonder around on
our
motorbike trying to find all of the view point. There’s a lot of them and they are
all incredible in their own way. This island also hide a few beaches where you
can find peace and quiet if you are brave enought to find them. (I am joking google
tells you were they are)
One of my favorite was banana beach partly because Alexis had a banana top tank when
we visited the beach and partly because you needed to go down a hill using ropes to
get there. It give me the feeling of beeing Indiana Jones.
After almost 2 weeks in Phuket, we decided it was time to move on but where to
go? That’s ofthen the problem we you travel for a long period of time, organising
your itinary. After a lot of deliberation, we settled on Singapore. We were hesitant
at first since Singapore is pretty expensive and our backpacker budget was hoping on
the low prices of Asia. But Singapore also has a great reputation for food and for
it’s elaborate garden. In the end, the bee wanted flowers and Oh my, flowers we got.
