If you want to do laundry you have 3 option:
All included laundry
That’s the most common type in Asia, you will find shops that will wash, dry and fold
your laundry for you. They are most of the time really inexpensive depending on our
localisation. For example, laundry in bangkok cost 50 baht (2$ CAD) per basket (really
big one) and in Phuket it cost 50 baht per kg, a bit more expensive. If you want they
will iron your clothes it will cost you a supplement per article you need ironed.
Self-service laundromat
They are a few of them but are not the most common form of laundry service. They are a
bit less expensive that all included laundry service. We never tried them but we saw a
few of them around the cities we visited.
Hand wash laundry
For hand wash laundry, we bought soap at a grocery store and then proceed to washing our
own clothes. (Tiny warning: Don’t wash too much clothes at the same time, the more you
wash the longer it take to dry in the hotel room.) Hand washing gets your clothes pretty
clean but after 2 wash the clothes need professional handling, mainly because we are
sweating a lot… It’s too warm here for our Canadian bodies.
To hand wash clothes, first rinse them with water, then add soap, mix and scrub specific
area (like armpits), let sit for 20-30 minutes, rinse, remove excess water and hang to
dry.
