Communicating in Asia

We think that, in order to have a good time as a tourist in a foreign country, you should always learn the following as a polite gesture: “Hello”, “Thank you”, “No Thank you”, “Good bye”.

English
Yes, most of the time in touristic area you can communicate in English with people. Normally when people are young they know English. When we were in less touristic area, it’s common that vendor ask their kids to communicated with you. (sometime they are really young and it’s cute)

Application
In Thailand, we download an application that translates picture. So basically you take a picture of the menu and then upload it on the app and get an English version of the text. The app we use is called Camera Translator(This can be found on Google PlayStore for free, but you need to watch ads in order to use the translator or you can pay for unlimited translation.

Duolingo
This applications is really good to learn a new language. If you want, before your departure, you can try to learn the language of the country you are visiting. They don’t have all the language of the world but they have a pretty decent selection. It’s also free and have a nice interface to learn with goals and level
