ATM in Asia
First, you need cash… Paying with a credit card is not a valid option in Asia. Second,
you cannot transport all of the money you need at all time. Therefore, you will need to
withdraw money pretty often. No, it does always work. It’s always safe and easier to use
a credit card to withdraw money from an ATM.
1)
Now not all atm will accept your out of the country credit card, you need to find
on the ATM the cirrus logo if you are a mastercard owner. (After a few failed attempt we
called our bank and they told us to watch for that logo, we didn’t had problem
withdrawing after that)
2)
If the internet is not good in that area you may need to try a few time before
the transaction is accepted
3)
If your first attempt is refused, try to connect onto your bank account online
(for us, when we did that, our next attempt usually worked)
4)
Try more than once… some time it took us 3 try back to back with the same ATM
before it worked.
5)
When we leave for a new city, make sure to have enough cash for the first days
just in case ATMs are uncooperative.
Warning: Some countries don’t refill ATM until mondays…. So make sure you have
enough money for the weekend in case the ATM runs out. Yes it happens pretty often,
specially in remote area…
